In the future, the ubiquitous computing environment will provide users  with context-aware  services, intelligently interacting with omnipresent resources and the surrounding environment at any location and time. Therefore, the ubiquitous computing environment requires context-aware systems, in order to gather and analyze  context  information in various situations and environments. In addition, the systems should  have the ability to handle and generate context information by combining, deducing, and learning detected law
context  information. However, existing context-aware systems lack the ability to systematically handle various types of context  information, and only a few systems have learning mechanisms. In this paper, a general framework for  context-aware  systems in ubiquitous  computing  environments, which makes it straightforward to handle and generate various types of context from diverse sensors, is proposed. The framework is designed to allow a system to sense, combine, infer, and learn context information, in order to provide users with services in dynamic environments. The proposed framework has been implemented and applied to u-Health management systems.
