Abstract.

Document summarization is the process of producing a condensed summary of a document or set of documents, retaining the most important contents of the document. In this paper, we propose a novel document summarization considering background document sets. The key idea is to generate a summary with the relative characteristics of documents based on a Genetic Algorithm. Experiment results produced by our method are more similar to the ones manually summarized by human, which clearly demonstrates the advantage of our novel method for summarizing document by extracting the characteristics.
